Description

The Stroke Program Coordinator implements, promotes, and maintains a Stroke Program which meets regulatory and verification requirements for a Stroke Center as outlined by the Joint Commission. Abstracts, enters, and retrieves data into/from the Stroke Registry.

Qualifications

• Licenses and Certifications Required • Current or temporary RN license in ND or compact RN licensure • BLS required within orientation period • Once certified, maintain all necessary standards required for ongoing certification • Educational Requirements • BSN required, MSN preferred • Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program • Maintains a minimum of 8 hours of stroke education annually • Experience Requirements • Minimum of 3 years recent clinical nursing experience • Clinical experience in Neuroscience/Stroke Nursing • Special Skills or Training Requirements • Strong planning and operations development skills • Exhibit strong team-building and leadership skills • Ability to present and communicate well • Interpersonal skills necessary to work productively with all levels of unit personnel, as well as physicians, families, visitors, and to manage the activities of a diverse group of professional, nonprofessional, and clerical employees • Possesses active listening skills • Planning skills to develop goals and objectives in concert with those of the hospital and implements action plans to meet those goals • Analytical ability to identify opportunities for improvements as well as positive problem resolution • Teaching abilities to promote optimum orientation and continuing education of staff • Has current knowledge of health care trends and issues and relates same to hospital and work area environment • Performs principle clinical responsibilities, according to the appropriate age and condition of the patient, as specified in the general nursing care competencies and unit specific competencies • In depth knowledge of change theory and demonstrated ability and guide change process • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills • Must have strong time management and organization skills • Rounds with nurses weekly to ensure compliance with Joint Commission stan
